What Smiley Man Check-In Is
Smiley Man Check-In is a parent-guided feelings check-in app for kids. Kids can name feelings, try small calming activities, save bright moments, and grow local Smiley Pets.
Parents can use the PIN-protected parent area to review app check-in patterns, manage privacy choices, export local data, delete local child data, and control optional features.
Smiley Man Check-In is not a diagnosis, screening, treatment, therapy, medical, or crisis-service app.
Common Parent Tasks
Use parent settings in the app to:
- Change privacy and permission choices.
- Turn Private iCloud Backup or Family Device Sync on or off.
- Run a backup or delete the private iCloud backup.
- Turn Voice Notes on or off.
- Turn Drawings & Journals on or off.
- Control Parent Raw Content Review.
- Control Smiley Man Voice.
- Create a local privacy export.
- Delete local child data.
Private iCloud Backup
Private iCloud Backup is recommended during parent-guided setup and can be turned off. It saves a complete recovery copy, including voice notes, drawings, journal and story text, and Smiley Pet progress. On a replacement device signed into the same iCloud account, choose restore before creating new family data and set a new local parent PIN. Deleting local data and deleting the private iCloud backup are separate controls.
Family Device Sync
Family Device Sync is separate and off by default. If a parent turns it on, Smiley Man Check-In uses Apple iCloud and CloudKit to share selected household data with linked parent devices.
If sync looks delayed, check that both devices are signed into iCloud, online, and updated to version 2.2. Linked parent viewers receive structured data; raw recordings, drawings, and journal or story text stay outside this sharing snapshot.
Parent Access
Parent access uses a local PIN. If access is temporarily unavailable, retry or reopen the app, then contact support if needed. A forgotten-PIN device reset requires device-owner authentication and erases local family data; the separate private iCloud backup is retained.
Purchases
Use Restore Purchases from the parent-gated Plus screen with the Apple Account used for the subscription. Manage or cancel subscriptions using Apple subscription settings.
Feeling Size
Children can choose a feeling size before support and optionally check it again afterward. Finishing without an activity also offers the follow-up. Skipping a size keeps that answer unknown.

Crisis Or Emergency Support
Smiley Man Check-In is not a crisis-service app. If a child may be in immediate danger or needs urgent help, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional.
Plus Offer Expiry
A non-renewing Plus offer ends without an automatic charge. After the app confirms that Plus has ended, it offers a parent-gated renewal prompt at the next safe visit to Home or the parent area. Families who stay Free can receive in-app reminders after 3, 10, and 30 days. These are local reminders, not push notifications. Free check-ins, drawing, saved data, and the first pet remain available.
Smiley Pet Park
Smiley Pet Park, the Sparkle Shop, pet naming, and capped extra check-in rewards are built-in parts of the app. The first rewardable check-in each day can advance egg or pet growth once. More check-ins save normally but cannot speed up that daily growth. All feelings earn the same base daily reward.
Parents can delete the selected child’s Smiley Pet Park data separately in Settings > Privacy & Data. This removes that child’s local egg, pets, Sparkles, and shop items while keeping check-ins and drawings. The action requires confirmation. Private iCloud backup deletion remains a separate control.
